Vasectomy reversal
The major factors that will alter the success of this procedure are the time duration between the initial vasectomy and its reversal, and the amount of the ‘vas deferens’ (the channel that carries the sperm from the testes to the penis) that was removed. At the Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health, we use a state of the art microscope to give the best possible chances of the best possible result.

This procedure is carried out as a day case procedure in our theatre suite, meaning you will not require admission to hospital, although it is completed under general anaesthetic.
At the time of the vasectomy reversal, fresh sperm can be harvested to be used immediately with ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) or frozen for later use. It therefore offers an ideal opportunity for patients who wish to maximise the chance of a pregnancy to combine these procedures.
